The song is a mix of Reggaeton and pop was released in 2017 by singer from Puerto Rico Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. The song was the top-streamed song at the time within six months. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, compared with two for 2015. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 In 2020, there were 41 songs.
