Rubi Rose Benton was born October 2, 1997, in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was also raised by Nardos Ghebrelul her mother who was an Eritrean dentist immigrant from Ethiopia and John Benton, her father, who is an attorney of Japanese, African American and European descent. She fell in love with Marvin Gaye's music and the music of Biggie, Prince, Michael Jackson and Chaka Khan. Megan Thee Stallion's, Nicki Minaj, and Nicki Cardi B are among her biggest influences. Rose was the first to be credited for her role as the principal model in the Migos music video for "Bad and Boujee", a hip-hop band. Rose started to appear on Twitch streams alongside DJ Akademiks who is a Jamaican born East Coast Hip Hop commentator. Rose began her music career in September 2018 when she remixed "On Top" which was a track by Playboi Cari. Her hit single "Big Mouth" was a hit in the beginning of 2019, and she performed well in the year ahead. Rose appeared in American rapper Cardi B's music video for her hit single "WAP" that came out on August 7, 2020. A&R Chris Turner signed Rose to the record label of LA Reid Hitco Entertainment in 2019. Rubi is also known for her high-profile romantic relationships. Rubi has dated Travis Scott, Ian Connor and Soulja Boy. She is currently not dating.
