Jessica Chastain

JessicaJessica Michelle Chastain, born on March 24, 1977, is an American actress. Her most famous work is her part in films that have female-centric themes. She has been the recipient of numerous awards which include an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 people worldwide in 2012. Chastain began acting as a child. In 1998, she made her debut on stage as Shakespeare's Juliet. She studied acting at Juilliard School and was then hired to a talent-holding contract with John Wells, a television producer. She appeared as a regular guest in a variety of television shows, and also took on the roles in several stage productions. After her debut in film at age 31 in the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain made her mark in 2011 with six film projects, including the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). As a character in the films, she played the aspiring socialite and CIA analyst, she won Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The most commercially successful films were the science fiction films Interstellar (2014) and The Martian (2015), as well as the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Her strong-willed portrayals in the dramas A Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were further praised. She was later cast as Tammy Faye Bakker in the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) and won the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as Tammy Wynette in the miniseries George & Tammy (2022). Chastain is the founder and investor of Freckle Films, a production company that encourages diversity in film. She has a strong voice on mental illness, gender equality and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo is her husband.
